Bonnie and Gratzie's Dogfest Page
I started my journey as a puppy raiser with Canine Companions for Independence two years ago when we brought our first puppy, Mimosa, home from the airport. From that moment on, I have been passionate about what this organization does. Mimosa was selected to be a breeder and now we are raising Gratzie, who hopefully will become an assistance dog someday.
I have seen first hand the difference these dogs can make in the life of a person with a disability. Imagine having a dog that could turn on lights, pick up dropped keys and open a door. A dog that can alert you if the microwave is beeping or the phone is ringing. Canine Companions for Independence service dogs are partnered with adults with physical disabilities to assist with daily tasks and increase independence by reducing reliance on other people. There are over 400 people on the waiting list to get one of these amazing dogs FREE OF CHARGE! CCI dogs are valued at $50,000 at the completion of their training.
I’m walking in DogFest on July 28, 2018 because I believe in Canine Companions for Independence and their mission to provide highly trained assistance dogs to adults, children and veterans. Gratzie and I will join other dogs and their owners for a day of fun, festivities, graduate speakers, dog demonstrations, and more.
Leading up to the event, we’re raising money to support Canine Companions. I'm asking if you could please help me get to my fundraising goal by donating online. It's easy to give, just click on the donate now button. Every little bit will help to place a dog with someone and change their life!
Thanks for your support! - Bonnie and Gratzie
